Who We Are

DTM Fleet Service began in 2008 with Matt Heinen, who had been upfitting police vehicles for his hometown agency since 2002. Seeing a need for reliable upfitting services in central Minnesota, Matt launched his own business from a small shop in Sauk Rapids, MN. His sons, Travis and Tyler, joined him, learning the trade firsthand and building a reputation for dependable craftsmanship and customer-focused service.

In 2017, Travis and Tyler took the lead, officially forming DTM Fleet Service and moved to a larger facility in Rice, MN. Over the next few years, the company steadily added new capabilities and, in 2020, hired their first full-time employee. Each step was deliberate, focused on strengthening relationships and maintaining the attention to detail that customers had come to expect.

By 2022, growth and demand had outpaced the Rice shop, and the team purchased a new building along Highway 10 in Royalton. A break-in shortly after the purchase caused more than $170,000 in damages and delayed the move by months, but the setback only reinforced their determination. Once established in the Royalton facility, DTM had the space to add custom metal fabrication — a natural extension of their build process and a way to make every vehicle solution even more precise.

Today, DTM Fleet Service is a team of nine full-time employees, growing steadily while keeping focus sharp. Police vehicle upfitting is at the heart of what we do, and fire and utility builds receive the same attention to detail. With several volunteer firefighters on our team, we understand firsthand what dependable equipment means in the field.
